Mail art

Mail art is any art sent through the mail. Generally, it can be seen by everyone who handles the mail as it travels via the post office.

I've been involved in mail art since the mid 1970s.

Did you know...

Mail art (also spelled 'mailart') has probably existed for as long as mail has.

However, its popularity in the 20th century is often traced to 1916 when Marcel Duchamp sent a decorated post card in the mail.

Others regard Ray Johnson as the father of modern mail art, when he mailed myriad decorated items during the middle of the 20th century.
